Launch of the Parents Plus Children’s Programme

 6th March 2008  - 2:30pm- 4:30pm - MaterHospital
Developed over the last four years with parents and children at the Mater Hospital, the New Parents Plus Children’s Programme (targeted at children aged 6 to 11 years old) is a video based guide to solving childhood problems, tackling behaviour difficulties and to support children’s learning and education. The new programme has been evaluated with parents groups over the last two years and initial results are positive showing that there are significant reductions in child behaviour problems for families attending the PPCP compared to a treatment as usual control group. Importantly, these gains are maintained at a six month follow up.
The first facilitator training for the new programme is on the 11h and 12th March 2008
With the completion of Children’s Programme, this means that there are now three age-specific Parents Plus Programmes, covering early childhood to adolescence.
At the launch you will get an introduction and preview of the new programme and an outline of the work and plans for Parents Plus. Talks include

· Official Opening - Mr Brendan Smith TD Minister for Children
· Vision and Plans for Parents Plus - Prof Carol Fitzpatrick
· Preview of the Parents Plus Children’s Programme - Dr John Sharry
· The Evidence-base for Parenting Programmes in the Irish context''''''''- Prof
